My interest in photography started at the age of 13, with savings from delivering newspapers to front lawns my dear father helped me buy my first SLR camera that I so desperately wanted or should I say ''needed''. Working as a Graphic Arts printer, which I did for many years, meant that photography remained a hobby. Graphic Arts further nourished my interest in anything visual, colourful and artistic and was my greatest teacher of precision, contrast and patience. I photographed the odd wedding and events in my early years, however I never found the financial freedom to pursue this as my career until 15 years ago. And so, with the encouragement of my family and friends I decided to take a leap of faith into the world of photography as a career and everything had worked out wonderfully.
Under my own banner I have also been working as an event photographer, photographing triathlons for the previous 10 years and marketing material for Nestle as well as family portrait weekend sessions and the odd wedding......I think I have almost made up for all those years that I dreamt of doing this as a career!!
Along came another life changing event and the need to reskill into another field presented itself.
Photography is now a part time passion for me and I am still as enthusiastic as that young 13 year old was many moons ago....were not counting how many that is btw :)
My fascination and respect for photography lies with its ability to pin any moment and if you think about it, there is nothing other than our genetic information that will survive the passing down of generations quite like an image. Images are one of the most important things we can leave behind.
